The two officials of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), kidnapped by NSCN (K) cadres from Senapati district headquarters on August 31 last, were released today without any unharmed, at about 12 pm.
Laishram Ibomcha of Thambalkhong and Elangbam Pishak of Hiyanglam Awang Leikai were released at a place in the interior area of Senapati district bordering with Ukhrul district called Soibung today, where they had to track all the way for three hours through jungle to reach nearest bus stand at Phaibung village, a report from Senapati district headquarters said.
They reached the Senapati district headquarters at about 4 pm where police recorded their statement to reveal the reason behind taking them into captivity by the outfit and on what condition they secured released from the kidnappers.
Police quoting the statement of the two officials said that they were abducted in connection with the demand of 4% deduction from the monthly salaries of the employees of the FCI staff in Senapati district.
The officials did not know on what ground they were released as the negotiation was done at the higher level of their office.
They also reportedly said that any kind of harassment meted out to them while in the captivity of the outfit.
They were informed of the released only after they were shifted to another village from the earlier location.
After pointing out the route, they are to follow to reach Senapati district, the kidnappers left behind them to the place where they had to track three hours in the forest to reach Phaibung bus stand.
