Concerned over the failure of biogas plants in the state, the Naharol Chaokhathanba Kanglup, Uripok, Imphal, in its press release today drew the attention of the state Chief Minister and asked for his intervention.
The release added that Biogas plant was first introduced in the year 1986-87 by the state Department of Science and Technology.
So far 2000 biogas plants have been constructed in the state under the scheme.
However new construction of such plants have been stopped since 2004 .
According to an UN report, India had assured employment of 9,00,000 youths in the field of biogas plants by the year 2025.On the contrary, the project ceased to function since the past five years in the state.
Subsidy of Rs 11,700 given earlier for every biogas plant has not been sanctioned since the past five years.
