Imphal, December 06 2010:
The Council of Teacher's Associaton (COTA) intensified its stir with the association beginning a relay hunger strike today in demand of 6th pay provisions in toto.
In a press release, COTA stated that Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya government had already given orders for implementing the 6th pay provisions in toto.
However, the state government refuses to implement the MoU signed between COTA & JAC and the state govt some months back.
The Cabinet had approved the 6th pay bands in toto only for the Ministers and MLAs.
On the other hand, the state government is reducing the pay of primary and graduate teachers leave alone granting the 6th pay bands in toto.
This has led to the ongoing cease work strike now followed by the relay hunger strike.
