An anti-vehicle lifting squad of the Meghalaya Police visited Jiribam police station today in connection with the menace of vehicle lifting, reports our Jiri correspondent.
The 16 member team headed by Inspector HK Gogoi urged Jiri police to cooperate in checking the menace of vehicle lifting.
Gogoi said that 80 percent of the stolen vehicles from Meghalaya were transported to Manipur and Barak valley of Assam.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a Tata Indica bearing registration number of the State of Arunachal Pradesh has been seized a few days back as the registration number was found to be allotted against a Maruti car.
The seizure was made by CID Crime branch when some persons approached the DTO Imphal to change its registration number to those numbers being used in the State of Manipur.
The vehicle has been handed over to Imphal police station.
