Imphal, November 14:
As announced earlier, the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) is all set to begin its agitation against the State Government from tomorrow midnight.
The mode of agitation is total blockade/bandh of all-forms of inter-State transport along the NH-39, according to Peter Kuba president of SDSA.
This is to say that no passenger buses and goods transporters plying in-and-outside Manipur will be allowed during the bandh period.
The agitation is for ten days which means till November 25 midnight.
Informing this to Newmai News Network this afternoon, SDSA chief said that they had reconsidered their earlier decision to call indefinite bandh along the National Highway 39 and opted for ten days only.
However, he warned that in the event of the failure of the State Govt in responding positively, the students' body will take up other more drastic forms of agitation.
Peter Kuba also made it clear that the proposed bandh will be effective to only inter-State transporters, including truck carriers and inter-state passenger buses plying along the NH-39 leading to Manipur.
It will not include inter-district transporters under the purview of the bandh.
Peter also said that the days of the bandh have been restricted to ten days taking into considerations the hardship faced by the people.
The SDSA has been demanding measures to improve the conditions of roads along the NH-39 and the early completion of construction of water reservoirs under the Non Lapsable Central Pool Resources (NLCPR).
