Imphal, January 15, 2012:
A joint meeting of the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors was held today and it strongly condemned the act of confiscating a press note by police from press offices which was issued by the CorCom last night.
Confiscation of the press note which was not even published was direct interference in the freedom of press and it was an act of pre-censoring.
Maintaining that what can be published and what not should be left to the wisdom of Editors, the meeting decided to appeal to all concerned not to repeat such undue interference, conveyed a press release issued by AMWJU general secretary S Surjeswar.
