Imphal, October 08:
All India Students' Association and MU Students' Union have resolved to unite and strive for removal of AFSPA from the State.
In a joint statement, the two student bodies asserted that AFSPA has been imposed by the Indian Govt to perpetuate colonial legacy and suppress the basic rights of the people of the North East.
The reluctance of the State and Centre to the Act from Manipur and other NE States clearly reflect the intention of the political leaders, it added.
Reacting strongly against the State Govt's indifferent attitude towards demand of the people for the removal of AFSPA, it said that AFSPA is anti people and encourage the security forces to kill innocent civilians at will.
