Imphal, October 08:
With the Union Planning Commission intimating the State Govt to hike the Plan size for the next fiscal (2005-2006) by 18 percent from the projected Plan size of the current fiscal, the State Government is likely to project the next Plan size at about Rs 800 crores.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express a well placed source said that following the instruction from the Centre to hike the next Plan size by 18 percent from the Rs 590 crore projected by the Government during the current fiscal, the State Planning Commission is expected to work out the intricacies within this month.
However the source said that if the Plan size is to be worked out from the projected size for the current fiscal then the amount will work out to about Rs 701.38 crores which is much lesser than the Rs 781 Plan size worked out by the Union Finance Commission for the current fiscal year.
As reported earlier, though the State Govt had projected a Plan size of Rs 590 crores for the current fiscal, the Centre had hiked it to Rs 781 crores.
To offset this, the State Government is planning to project a Plan size of Rs 800 crores.
As insurgency has affected development, the State Government will highlight this point and will demand more from the reconstruction plan of the Centre.
Apart from demanding additional funds from the reconstruction plan of the Centre, the State Government will also ask the Centre to fork out more money from the Special Plan Assistance fund, said the source.
Meanwhile, though the Plan size for the current fiscal was fixed seven months late, the Chief Secretary has asked all the relevant officers to judiciously utilise all the money granted under the Plan.
The utilisation of the fund awarded under this year's Plan will also be taken into account while fixing the Plan size for the next fiscal.
