Imphal, July 18 2009:
As the Kangla Hall located inside the historic Kangla Fort is to undergo a major repairing, hiring out the hall for public functions has been stopped with immediate effect from today.
The Secretary of Kangla Fort Board P Bharat has issued an order in this connection.
However, according to information received by the press, with exception to State functions, the restriction on hiring out the hall to the public is likely to remain even after the completion of repairing work.
Hiring out Kangla Hall and allowing conduct of public functions has resulted in worsening the atmosphere inside the historic Kangla Fort which is already a restricted area, the source added.
