Imphal, July 18 2009:
Karimganj police, Assam arrested two members of the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) arround 10 pm of July 15.The two arrested persons have been identified as S/S Lt Langpoklakpam Kulladhaja @ Hussain (46) of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak, Imphal West District, Manipur and RK Sanahal @ Sanabi (42) of Singarbond, Lakhipur, Cachar, Assam.
Reports received here say that the two were arrested from Charbazar area under Karimganj police station while they were trying to crossed over to Bangladesh over Kushiara river along the Indo-Bangladesh international border.
According to police, L Kulladhaja is said to have joined the RPF in 1993 while he was studying in college.
He had undergone basic military training in Eastern Nagaland (Myanmar) and actively work for RPF in Manipur.
His rank is Lieutenant.
Manipur police arrested him in 1995 and after release from jail, he again joined the outfit.Police said, he mainly assisted PLA cadres in getting medical treatment and remained underground in different parts of Manipur.
He and RK Sanahal decided to go to Bangladesh with the help of a person called Parimal of Bangladesh.
They contacted one tout named Tipu Das of Karimganj who assured them of helping them to cross over to Bangladesh and took Rs 500 from them.
However, they were arrested by police from Charbazar area in Karimganj town,
police said.
