Imphal, July 18 2009:
The 120-hour long general strike called by DESAM demanding release of student leaders detained under NSA in connection with the murder of Prof Md Islamuddin of MU, but subsequently shortened to 72 hours concluded midnight today.

The bandh which came into effect from midnight of July 15 continued to affect normal life in Manipur for the third consecutive day today with all the Inter and intra-State transports staying away from road.
On the third day today, suspected bandh supporters set on fire an auto-rickshaw at a spot in between Naranseina and Sunusiphai along Imphal-Churachandpur Road at around 11.50 am.
It may be noted here that suspected bandh supporters set aflame five autorickshaws till yesterday.
