As introduction of National Food Security Ordinance is certain in the State, the State Cabinet has decided to ensure fair distribution of PDS items to the public ahead of the introduction of the Scheme in the State.
A Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on Sept 3 has also decided to give stringent punishment to anyone found swindling PDS items under the provisions of Essential Commodities Act.
According to Education and CAF&PD Minister, M Okendro, who is also the spokesman of the Government, the Cabinet has also given its approval for regularisation of 288 adhoc employees of different departments excluding Education dept.
In case of the Education dept, the number of adhoc employees for regularisation would be decided after further detailed screening.
The Cabinet also approved recruitment of Grade-I officers in different Engineering departments like Works, IFCD, PHED and MI through MPSC.
Although the Govt has the prerogative to recruit Grade-II posts, it has been entrusted to the MPSC for the sake of transparency, the Minister said.
