Orientation on National Deworming day held

An orientation programme on National Deworming Day was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner at Mini-Secretariat, Senapati by District Health Society today .
Chairman of District Health Society, Senapati, Athem Muivah, Deputy Commissioner Senapati, along with CMO, Senapati Dr Loli Mao attended the workshop as dignitaries .
Staff of National Health Mission , Zonal Education Office teachers, Anganwadi workers and other health workers were present at the programme .
However, the Deworming day will be observed on August 10 along with the activity of administering Albendazole tablet .
The activities will include distribution of Albendazole (400 mg) tablets in respective blocks which would be administered by school teachers and Anganwadi workers and other health workers .
Dr Loli Mao facilitated the orientation programme and highlighted the necessity of deworming on children stating, “Worm infections can cause anaemia, malnourishment, impaired mental and physical development and may cause a serious threat to children’s health, education, and productivity” .
