CCpur, August 08 2017:
Following report of another outbreak of fever at Tonglon T, an isolated village in Churachandpur's Singngat sub-subdivision, the CMO Churachandpur yesterday dispatched a medical team to attend to the sick there and contain the situation .
According to Dr S Langlunthang, who headed the medical team that comprised of two nurses and a local ASHA worker, conditions of the villagers are much better than they had anticipated .
The fever that has affected nearly every one of the roughly 100 villagers from about 18 households for the larger part of last week appears to be subsiding when the medical team reached the village yesterday .
They have attended to about 41 villagers and handed over free medicines to them .
'We started seeing patients immediately on reaching the village which is about 15 kms from Singngat.
We have also collected blood samples from two people who have shown signs of mosquito borne diseases for testing at Churachandpur,' the doctor recounted .
The team, he said, started off on a hired Shaktiman at about 7 in the morning and had to cover about half of the 15 kms distance to the village on foot as the road was motorable only till Chahnou village .
He also lamented the heavy burden the two doctors posted at Singngat PHC had shouldered as they had to reach out to such remote villages even as the area falls under Zezaw PHC, which is supposed to have its own doctors .
Singngat PHC he added had 4 doctors earlier but 2 have been transferred without any replacement and instances of such an outbreak are an added burden to the limited man power.
