DMCA students protest Education (U)'s order

Demanding revocation of the order issued by Education (U) to enrol more 120 students at DM College of Arts, students of the college staged a sit-in-protest in front of the college gate today.
Talking to media persons, Oinam Gandhi, one of the student protestors said that classes of the first semester commenced from July 4 but surprisingly principal of the college received a notice from Education (U) yesterday directing to admit more 102 students in the first semester .
He informed that there are more than 100 students in each of the classrooms for DM College of Arts .
The order came at a time when the students are facing difficulties in attending classes due to the lack of infrastructure including bench and chair.
Moreover, the college is also facing shortage of teachers.
As such, admitting excess students would affect conduct of normal classes, he said .
He claimed that they have blocked Administration Block of the college in protest against the unwarranted order .
He pledged to continue with the protest unless the Department revokes its order.
