Assam Rifles recovers illegal Timbers worth Rs 55 Lakh

Senapati, June 06 2021:
Maram Battalion under the aegis of Jwalamukhi Sector/IGAR (E) recovered illegal Timbers on NH-2 .
Based on specific inputs regarding smuggling of contraband items from Imphal to Dimapur, a mobile check-post near Tadubi was established on the night of Saturday and all the vehicles plying on NH-2 were checked.
On scrutiny of suspected vehicles, two 16 tyre trucks fully loaded with 120 sawn timbers worth Rs 55 Lakh were confiscated and the drivers were apprehended.
The two apprehended individuals were identified as Janardan Yadav (25) and Bisweswar Nayak (35), both residents of Jharkhand.
The confiscated items along with the truck drivers were handed over to Mao forest Range Office.
