Humanism Foundation calls for collective action on environmental protection

While resolving to create mass awareness across the State on environment protection, Humanism Foundation has called all sections of the society to work collectively in preserving the ecosystem.
A press release issued by Humanism Foundation said that the resolution was taken during a State level virtual workshop of youth leaders, members of local civil society organisations on Saturday in connection with the World Environment Day celebration.
During the observance, Dr Binota Thokchom, DST Faculty member, Forestry and Environment Studies, Manipur University, who attended the meeting as a resource person highlighted the present 'pathetic' management of the environment as well as the situation of water resources in Manipur.
The resource person also mentioned that Manipur is far behind in all aspects of environmental protection and as such, there is an urgent need for a collective resolution among the people to conserve natural resources, environment and repair the reverse trends.
Highlighting the changing trends of the ecosystem in the State, other participants called for result-oriented measures and policies to preserve the environment on an urgent basis.
As part of its annual event, the Humanism Foundation has also planted trees in different parts of the State on Saturday.
The NGO has also launched its 'one house, one tree campaign to plant at least a tree in every home on the day of World Environment Day.
