IED recovered

Imphal, March 20 2016:
17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles
under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) recovered a powerful IED
near Leingangching on March 19.
The foot patrolling party of 17 Assam Rifles while sani-
tizing the road found a suspicious plastic bag near the village,
five metres off the road, said a press release issued by PRO
Hqs IGAR (S).
The troops were deployed at a safe distance
and they carried out thorough search of the area to ascertain
presence of any underground wire for triggering the IED.
All vehicles were stopped and the entire area was cordoned
off.
Immediately Litan police were informed and a bomb
disposal team was called at the area and recovered the IED at
around 5.50 pm.
After analysis of the IED it was found that the IED was
Claymore RCIED weighing approximately 2 kg of explosive,
with a battery operated mechanism.
