Kangpokpi, March 20 2016:
An LPG bullet tanker overturned early this morning at around 3 am near Kangpokpi bridge on NH-2 and disrupted traffic flow along the highway for nearly 8 hours.
The handyman of the ill-fated tanker bearing (MN03T 1099) sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The LPG bullet tanker was among the vehicles being escorted by CRPF personnel and heading towards Imphal from Dimapur side.
Police immediately cordoned off the area as the tanker was carrying Liquefied Petroleum Gas and halted vehicular movement along the highway apart from the tanker blocking a greater part the road.

It took more than ninety minutes for two recovery cranes to restore the over turned tanker.
The recovery cranes were called from the State capital and personnel of fire sub-station, Kangpokpi, police personnel and other drivers assisted.
Traffic resumed only after the recovery bullet tanker was recovered at around 11.30 am.
Another driver at the accident site said that the drivers are made to travel without any rest or break in between and alleged that "the escort personnel forcefully took us without giving any rest on such a long journey and we eventually became drowsy" .
He added, "if they (the escort personnel) had given us at least an hour to take rest it will be enough for us" .
