Following the abnormal growth of voters in 17 AC during the intensive electoral roll revision, conducted by the State Election Office, the Election Commission of India has redirected the State Govt to recheck the figures and during the rechecking exercise it has come to light that three villages in the hill districts were found uninhabited.
A well placed source informed The Sangai Express following this detection, a total of 11,544 electors have been struck off from the list.
That the three villages were uninhabited came to light after 20 officers were pressed into service for the rechecking exercise.
