Personnel of 36 Assam Rifles rescued two drivers who were abducted by suspected Kuki militants near Motbung today at about 11 am.
In a statement, the PIB Defence Wing said that on being informed that the two truck drivers, ferrying Nestle India products, have been abducted by the militants, personnel of 36 Assam Rifles swung into action and with the help of the local people managed to rescue them at about 6.30 pm today.
The troops pressed into service four columns to conduct the search, said PIB and added that the captors fled on hearing the arrival of the AR troops.
The two drivers have been identified as TJ Singh driver of AS01/T/8954 and Mani S Singh driver of AS01/T/2261.
