Acting on a credible information, Imphal West district police commandos apprehended one UNLF cadre from the house of Keisham Rojen Kumar of Keisham Leikai at about 8.25 am yesterday, informed SP Imphal West Clay Khongsai in a press release.
The UNLF cadre is identified as Sgt Maj Laishram Nanao alias Nongdrel (31) of Chingamakha
Maibam Leikai.
Further based on the disclosure of Nanao, another cadre of the same outfit identified as Ashem Deepak alias Dingku (32) of Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai was also arrested from near Loklaobung bridge by the commandos last morning, added the release.
On the other hand, another team of Imphal West commandos pulled up one NSCN (IM) activist from 2nd MR Gate on NH 39 at about 4.30 pm today.
The NSCN (IM) cadre is identified as Dinniamlung Longmei alias Dinkem alias Abung (30) of Khoupum Thanagong, Tamenglong district, staying at present at 2nd MR Gate.
Five letter heads of GPRN were seized from his possession, informed SP Clay Khongsai.
Meanwhile, Commandos of Imphal East unit apprehended one hard core member of the proscribed outfit PREPAK from his own house at Kongpal Khaidem Leikai at around 11 am today.
According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East District L Kailun, the arrested member has been identified as Laikhuram Nanao Singh (22) s/o L Shamungou Singh of Kongpal Khaidem Leikai.
The arrested activist was wanted in connection with case FIR no.106(5)07 Porompat PS, under Section 121/121-A/307/34 IPC, 20/38/39 UA (P) Amendment Act, 2004 and read with 25 (1-C) Arms Act, the SP added.
In another statement, police officer conveyed report of arresting two activists of the proscribed NSCN (K) by a team of Imphal East Police Commandos during frisking and checking operation at Palace Compound at around 2.30 pm on October 31 last.
The two arrested underground activists have been identified as Samurailatpam Sanjoy alias Bipin (30) s/o S Megha of Khongman Mangjil and Koijam Kenedy alias Abhinas (30) s/o K Ibomcha of Singjamei Chingamakha Ningthoujam Leikai.
On spot verification, they disclosed that they joined NSCN (K) in June 2002 through one James, a S/S kilonser of the finance section of NSCN (K), the SP informed.
On the other hand, two columns of 9 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched swift and well-planned operation in general area of Uyumpok in Ukhrul district yesterday and apprehended four activists of Naga National Liberation Army.
PRO Assam Rifles identified the arrest activists as SS captain Surrender alias Loveboy (30), SS Pvt Sophiyo (32), SS Pvt Wungnayo (26) and driver Saleapion (25), all residents of Ukhrul.
Further search of the area was also carried out when the troops came under heavy and indiscriminate fire from other activists hiding in the paddy fields.
The troops retaliated in a controlled manner due to presence of civilians in the paddy fields.
Taking advantage of this, the attackers manage to escape.
The troops have also recovered one point 22 semi-auto UG made Rifles, one country made Pistol loaded with 2 live rounds, one country made Air Pistol, 55 live rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ball, 6 live rounds of 9 mm ball and receipts of illegal tax collection from the area, the PRO said, adding that the apprehendees were handed over to the Lamlai Police Station today.
