CCpur, April 26 2022: A two day National seminar on INA and the Kukis during World War 2 began today at Rayburn College.

The two-day national seminar is being sponsored by Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi.

Prof Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University graced the inaugural event as chief guest while Hemanta Dhing Majumder, Kshetra Sangathan Mantri, North Eastern States & Akhil Bharatiya Sampark Pramukh, Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojna was the guest of honour.

Dr Subhajit Choudhury, general secretary of Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Assam Prant also attended the event as special guest.

During the inaugural session, a book titled "The Untold Story of the Battle of Imphal," authored by Prof Salam Irene was launched.

Dr Salam Irene and Professor Laldena gave a brief account of the newly released book.

The seminar witnessed talks from Dr Jangkhomang Guite, Dept of History, Manipur University on the topic "Kukis participation in INA movement: facts, memories, deception"; Dr Sheikhohao Kipgen, Dept of History, Manipur College and Dr Lallenthang Vaiphei, Manipur University on "The Kukis and the Indian National Army (INA)"; Dr Pum Khan Pau, Dept of History, Manipur University on "On the threshold of India: The Indian National Army in the Indo-Burma Frontier; Dr James V Haokip, Dept of Anthropology, Sikkim University on "Kuki-Japanese-INA triad during WW-II: Memoirs from survivors" during today's technical session.

Science Dr Ambedkar University New Delhi also deliberated on "Pu Lamkhothang: The Hill Patriot of Japan Gaal" while Dr Sonthang Haokip, Dept of History, Moirang College gave a lecture on "Legend of Kuki Japanese Relation during the WWII: A Historical Analysis.

Besides, Dr T Letkhosei Haokip, independent researcher also dwelt on "Forgotten Role of Kukis for Indian Independence under Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose" .

Tomorrow, Dr Thathang Vaiphei will lead the seminar with Dr Yoshihiro Kaburagi, retired lecturer of Osaka University of Commerce Japan and speak on "Indian National Army and the WW-II" .
