Temporary market shed at Thangal bazar : HC issues notice to State Government

Following a PIL filed by four individuals including two ward members of IMC in connection with the construction of a temporary market shed along the road at Thangal bazar, High Court of Manipur has issued a notice to the State Govt which is returnable within two weeks.
The PIL was filed against the construction of the temporary market shed by the Govt along the road at Thangal bazar to accommodate vendors of Ima Keithel who have earthquake been displaced due to damage.
The petitioners are members of the building in the recent bers of Ward No 25, IMC Meisnam Jiten and Tungjalung Phaomei; Mutum Rajendro of Thangmeiband and Kh Debilkumar, according to counsel of the petitioner senior advocate Khaidem Mani.
Speaking to reporters at Cheirap Court complex, Khaidem Mani said that the Govt issued an order for construction of temporary market shed at the Northern side of the present Temporary Market on Jan 7.Contrary to the order, the temporary market was constructed along the road at Thangal bazar.
The petitioners mentioned that construction of the market shed at the already congested Thangal bazar will cause more problems.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Lakshmikanta Mohapatra and Justice Kh Nobin issued the notice to the State Govt after hearing the petition.
The respondents listed in the notice include Chief Secretary, Commissioner (MAHUD), Chief Engineer (Works), SP (Imphal West) and Executive Officer, IMC.
