'Mother Where's My Country' launched

'Mother Where's My Country' written by award-winning journalist and also the CNN-IBN Executive Editor and prime time news anchor Anubha Bhonsle was launched today at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal after it was launched in New Delhi last week.
The book maps life of Manipur under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, and records the lives and struggle of people of the State and the Indian Army, which fights insurgents.
Prof Bimol of JNU moderated the session.
Social activist Nandini Thokchom, Human Rights Activist Ba-bloo Loitongbam, noted journalist of the State and editor of Imphal Free Press, Pradip Phanjoubam participated in the discussion.
The book is published by the Speaking Tiger.
At the launch, Anubha Bhonsle explained the purpose of the book.
She said the huge gap which is there between the different sections of the country could be bridged to some extent and make the people understand more of Manipur.
She added that movements of non-violence is very-much alive spiritually and is reflected in the book.
Anubha Bhonsle made documentaries on Manipur and has extensively reported on Irom Sharmila, who has been on a fast for the past 16 years demanding removal of draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act or AFSPA.
