Thoubal, May 07 2022: At least two shops were gutted by fire in the early hours on Saturday at Khekman Wangmataba Makha Leikai.

Reportedly, the fire which broke out at around 2.30 am due to a short circuit destroyed one tailoring house and a grocery shop which were opened on the bank of Thoubal River at Khekman Wangmataba Makha Leikai.

The fire was first detected by people coming out to play badminton at around 4 am when the major portion of the two shops were already destroyed.

The shops were run by one Ahanthem Sunder from Khekman Wangmataba Makha Leikai.

It is reported that the fire had consumed properties worth Rs 10 lakh including some expensive clothes and weaving machines, among others.

Speaking to media persons, Ward Member of Khekman Gram Panchayat Sanasam Tomba appealed to the State Government to extend some sort of help to the fire victim.
