Imphal, January 12:
Taking serious note of gunning down its defence secretary Mangboi by State security force personnel the Kuki National Front has demanded clarification from the SPF Government within 10 days failing which the outfit warned of boycotting the Congress party.
Informing that Mangboi was a signatory to the ceasefire agreement between different Kuki underground groups and Central security forces the KNF sought clarification from the O Ibobi-led Government on why such a person involved in the peace process was killed and punitive action delayed against police personnel who allegedly demanded Rs 3 lakhs for Mangbois release before being slain in cold blood.
The Kuki outfits, spearheaded by the KNF entered into the peace deal in response to repeated calls of Central and state authorities for a peaceful negotiation with all UG organisations, reminded a statement issued by its secretary (DIP) LH Stephen.
Based on the peace initiatives the KNF approached Union Home Ministry representatives and the deal for cessation of hostility between Kuki armed groups and Central forces was signed but unfortunately, the O Ibobi Government of Manipur rejected the proposed ceasefire, the secretary charged.
