Aimed at disseminating information on the basics of law a Para Legal Training Centre has been established today at LMS Law College with District and Sessions judge Th Surbala Devi inaugurating the Centre as the chief guest.
Inaugural session of the Centre established in collaboration with Manipur Legal Services Authority was also attended by LMS Law College Principal L Gopeswor as functional president while Chief Judicial Magistrate (Imphal West) BK Sharma along with Civil Judge (Senior Division No I Manipur East) N Kipgen graced the occasion as the guests of honour.
stating that the Centre would facilitate people from far off places access information about law and gain confidence that rule of law is the most potent weapon to check exploitation, Th Surbala called upon students pursuing law to contribute their mite in the spread of legal awareness and to ensure prompt deliverance of justice without discrimination.
Speaking at the occasion, Advocate L Rebecca said Para Legal Centre had been established for the first time in Manipur at oinam Law College, Bishnupur and conveyed that plans are afoot to provide information on a wider scale through translation of law (books) in different languages of Manipur.
In his address, LMS Law College Principal L Gopeshwor exuded confidence that with the inauguration of the Centre law students will play an even more pro-active role to not only help the common people understand basic points of law but would also fight for the fundamental rights of the citizens.
