Imphal, February 18 2012:
Reacting to the claim about surrender of four UNLF cadres to BSF IG Manoharlal Batham on February 15 at Ningthoukhong, the proscribed UNLF has asserted that except for Hijam Mangaljao alias Amarjit s/o H Ranjit of Lamjao Mayai Leikai, all others were impostors.
A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba asserted that the three other persons--Solendro alias Inaoton, Thangcha alias Lupheng, Tungdim Jangam alias Mangoljao, were all impostors who have no connection with the outfit.
Saying that the surrender function was continuation of the alleged surrender drama enacted by security forces, the outfit said that producing three masked men as UNLF cadres was aimed at tarnishing the image of UNLF.
As for Mangaljao, he was deserter who deserted his unit as he could not follow the party's strict rules and ideals of being a revolutionary cadre.
Asserting that people of the land are aware of such surrender dramas, the outfit claimed that this strategy of staged managed surrender would never succeed in befooling the people.
On the other hand, all the repressive measures unleashed by security forces against the people of Manipur is not a drama but reality.
Saying that there would be no respite to such alleged repressive measures, the outfit cited the recent case of Sehlon where many villagers including women were beaten up blue and black.
To turn their wrath against the villagers without any investigation into the death of the non-local canteen supplier was a glaring manifestation of their racial attitude, the UNLF alleged.
Asserting that there would be end to the repressive measures allegedly unleashed by security forces, the outfit cautioned all the people not to be carried by their military civic action programmes.
