Moreh, February 18 2012:
Community leaders in Moreh strongly felt the need for setting up of a permanent Transport Office within Moreh to ease traffic congestion in NH 39 Moreh Evening Bazar during busy hours.
A joint meeting of various communities' leaders held this morning at HTC Office also felt the need to use VDF personnel in maintaining traffic rules in Moreh in order that parking in and around Moreh town is regulated.
Noting that no traffic rule has been followed in Moreh, the meeting suggested the setting up of permanent transport office in order to ease the burden faced by vehicles' owners and pedestrians including school students.
It also felt the need to regulate vehicles entering from Myanmar side as these vehicles followed traffic rules of their landdriving right.
Since India follows a different traffic rule of driving left, chaos could erupt if not the traffic rules are strictly checked.
Representatives of Meitei Council Moreh (MCM), All Community Development Organisation Moreh (ACDOM), Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh (MMCM), Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Gurkha Samaj Samiti, and Tamil Sangam Moreh were present in the meeting.
The meeting also unanimously resolved to bring the matter to the ADC Moreh and officials of the Police Department.
