Imphal, October 17 2011:
An executive body meeting of the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) was held in the office of JIMPAL yesterday and it resolved to appeal to all Government employees posted in Jiribam sub-division to undertake 'pen down strike' from October 19 to October 23 .
The agitation for conversion of Jiribam sub-division into a full fledged district would not cover schools, colleges, hospitals, electricity, fire service and water supply.
Another resolution of the meeting was to launch non-cooperation movement against all Government offices located within ADC office complex from October 24 to October 29 .
During this period of agitation, all railway works would be boycotted, informed JDDC in a press release.
The call for the pen down strike comes close on the heels of the 120 hours general strike called by the JDDC on the same issue, during which all market places and Govt offices were closed.
