Poll workshop for states going to polls next year

A workshop for States going to polls next year was held today at New Delhi under the aegis of Election Commission of India.
The main agenda of the workshop opened by Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi was election-related expenditures.
The workshop was participated by political parties of Punjab, UP, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, informed a source from New Delhi.
Manipur was represented by Chief Election Officer PC Lawmkunga, and representatives of Congress, CPI, CPI (M), MPP, NCP, NPP and BSP.
Talking about the workshop, CPI Manipur State Council secretary Dr M Nara said that the workshop was organised specifically to reduce election expenditures.
Election-related incidents as witnessed in the State currently as well the general rate of expenditures being incurred by aspiring candidates were highlighted during the workshop, Dr Nara conveyed.
It has also been decided to organise similar workshop at Imphal under the aegis of the State Election Commission, he added.
