Imphal, December 14:
Expressing resentment over the failure of the Manipur government in fulfilling the commitment assured to them, the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has today threatened the government of resuming its pending strikes in the event of the failure from the government side to deliver the promise made earlier regarding the renovation of the National Highway 39 which is billed as the life-line of Manipur.
The SDSA said that it has imposed bandh along the National Highway (NH)-39 from November 18 last over the issue of the terrible road conditions of the highway and also on the matter of the non-completion of pipeline works under Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR).
The students' body, however had withdrawn the bandh as per an agreement reached between the student's body and the government.
SDSA president Kuba Peter, said that the government is not taking up the works satisfactorily and urged the government to act immediately.
Meanwhile, Peter further conveyed to concern ministers, departmental officials and agencies that Senapati district has not received allotted rice, sugar and kerosene under the Public Distribution System (PDS) for the last three months.
It has, therefore, urged concerned authority to deliver the allotted PDS items within December 20 or else, the students body will not be responsible for any action initiated against those responsible persons/authorities in the interest of the public.
