Continuing its humanitarian of providing basic amenities to the remote villages and far flung areas of the State, 22 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under Headquarters IGAR (South) based at Maram in Senapati district constructed a 20,000 litre capacity cement water tank at Lower Saranamei (Khaikho) village for the benefit of the villagers.
According to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles, the villagers were visibly moved to see the Commandant of 22 Assam Rifles Col VS Malik himself visiting them to inaugurate the water take facility.
While dedicating the said water tank, the Commandant assured the locals of all possible assistance towards their social welfare needs, the PRO Assam Rifles said.
The dedication ceremony of the water tank also coincided with golden jubilee celebration of Khaikho Village Baptist Church for which 22 Assam Rifles provided chairs, sound system, Shamiana, water cover, buglar, Kanats, transport and other material assistance.
Along with dedicating the water tank, the Assam Rifles unit also conducted a free medical camp for the benefit of the villagers.
The medical camp conducted under the supervision of RMO 22 Assam Rifles Capt Vishvendu looked after the medical needs of the sick and old people of the villagers.
Training prog for ST workers: Human Resource Development Agency, Kakching Khunou organised a two-day special training programme for Sschedule Tribe (ST) workers at Aihang village in Chandel district from December 12 to 13.The programme attended by around 40 ST workers was conducted under the sponsorship of Central Board for Workers Education, Regional Directorate, Imphal.
