Imphal, July 09 2012:
Home Minister Gaikhangam has negated the news report published in this paper about the swindling of Rs 4,23,175 by the DDO concerned which rightfully belonged to late Kh Rajen.
Kh Rajen was working as an ASI in the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Telecom) before his demise.
Responding to a call attention motion raised by Dr Ibohalbi on the issue today, Gaikhangam maintained that the particular news report was 'false information' .
Yet, Dr Ibohalbi claimed that there was electronic clearance record about diversion of Rs 4,23,175 from the account of late Rajen to the account of the DDO and subsequent withdrawal from the bank.
Asking the Home Minister to verify the news report first, Ibohalbi enquired what action would be initiated against the DDO if the report turns out true.
He went on to allege that Police Department has become the focal point of corruption where money belonging to dead men are also looted.

However, Gaikhangam maintained that all the monetary entitlements of late Rajen remained untouched.
A total amount of Rs 7,82,672 was entitled to late Rajen and the whole amount has never been swindled.
The news report published on July 4 was false information and baseless news.
An official clarification on the news report was also published in The Sangai Express on July 5 where it was clarified that there was no case of swindling the monetary entitlements of late Kh Rajen, Gaikhangam stated.
Saying that all the monetary entitlements of late Rajen should go to his bank account or in the bank account of a nominee, Dr Ibohalbi questioned how did the money went to the DDO's account.
It was clear case of violation of financial rules and financial misappropriation.
The debate ended when Gaikhangam assured the House that those found guilty after collecting additional information would face due punitive actions.
He further assured that whatever additional information he may receive would be tabled at the House.
