Imphal, July 09 2012:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has said that the education system of Manipur is being messed up by a heap of 'in-charge' staff who are not capable to act responsibly.
Although, it has been a demand of the people of the State and DESAM to abolish the system of 'in-charge', 'OSD' and 'look-after' staff, the State Education Minister is not willing to take any step in this regard, alleged a DESAM press release.
The students' body questioned how a change could be brought within six months in the Education Department as promised by the Minister if many teachers who are currently holding different in-charge posts in the Department are not sent back to their respective schools.
DESAM expressed wonder how Head Master in-charge of Kontha New Primary School, Th Surendra Singh has been appointed recently as the AI in-charge of Zone II .
The press release further said that 70 per cent of the Head Masters of 198 Government High Schools are still in the status of 'in-charge' .
50 per cent of the Headmasters of the 215 Government Junior High Schools, all the 13 Zonal Education Officers and all the 27 Principals of Government colleges are still put in the status of 'in-charge' .
At such a scenario how the Education Minister could bring a change in the Education Department within six months, DESAM questioned.
