Gaikhangam dubs media report on Late ASI Rajen baseless

Home Minister Gaikha-ngam said Monday it was 'groundless' that all the financial entitlements of Late Rajen Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector at DIG (Telecom) had been counterfeited.
Responding to a calling attention motion moved by Opposition MLA I Ibohanbi in the House, Home Minister Gaikhangam said it was 'baseless' that all the financial entitlements of late ASI Rajen had been allegedly misappropriated as appeared in some local dailies.
In some section of media, it had been alleged that all the financial entitlements of late Rajen to be given to the next of kin had been fraudulently withdrawn by the concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) .
Gaikhangam added that all the money to be given to the late ASI Rajen is still intact and said all the bills of the amount are now in the state Treasury and these bills have not been passed yet.
He also made it clear that the amount of money entitled to the late ASI is Rs 7, 82, 672 .
Meanwhile, Chief Minister O Ibobi told the Manipur Legislative Assembly that prior to the 10th Manipur Assembly, a total of 10 Nagar Panchayats were upgraded to the status of Municipalities.
Ibobi said this during Question Hour as a reply to the question raised by Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohanbi in the House.
As of now, there are eight Nagar Panchayats yet to be upgraded, the Chief Minister further informed the House.
