Youth held for making obscene calls

A 20 year old habitual offender was taken into police custody for 7 days for making visually explicit video calls through WhatsApps to 8 lady employees of a private hospital and research centre located in Imphal West district.
The youth, identified as Ngangbam Bony s/o Dhamaraj of Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai, was produced by the IO of the case Rattana Ngasepam, Additional SP, Investigative Unit, Crime Against Women, Imphal West, before CJM Imphal West along with a prayer for four days police remand till February 10 .
The IO explained that a case was registered at around 3 pm yesterday after a written complaint was lodged by the Medical Officer of a private hospital and research centre based in Imphal West district, claiming that 8 lady employees of the hospital raised complaints about getting visually explicit video calls on WhatsApp from an unknown number on the night of February 4 .
The IO continued that during the course of investigation, the phone number was analysed and it was traced to Ngangbam Bony and as such he was arrested at around 6 pm yesterday.
During preliminary interrogation, Bony disclosed that he is working at a mobile accessory and cassette shop, and revealed that recently a staff of the private hospital, left his mobile phone at the shop for replacing its damaged display.
Bony further revealed that on the night of February 4, he inserted his sim card inside the customer's mobile phone and made video calls to some ladies whose contact numbers were present in the said phone.
Bony also disclosed that during the video calls, he revealed his private parts in an explicit manner to the unsuspecting victims, the IO mentioned, further explaining that in the past, Bony had been arrested by Singjamei police in connection with a similar case and had just recently been released.
The IO then prayed for 4 days police remand of the accused for proper investigation of the case, which the Court granted.
As such, Bony was remanded into police custody till February 10 .
