Flood light system now graces Khuman Lampak main stadium

Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated the long awaited flood light system at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal yesterday.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister said that it is indeed a historical and emotional moment for the people of the State and thanked Sports Minister Letpao Haokip, officials of YAS, officials of PHILIPS Company for early completion of flood light system before stipulated time.
He informed the gathering that the construction of astro-turf football ground at Langjing Achouba, Imphal West will be completed soon and added that another three more artificial football turfs with flood lighting system will be constructed in the State soon.
Biren maintained that sports is the only way to keep the youth away from drugs.
On the occasion, an exhibition match was played between Chief Minister XI and Chief Secretary XI.
The Chief Minister XI team was led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh while the Chief Secretary XI was led by Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu.
Ministers, MLAs, top civil and police participated in the exhibition match.
The match ended with one goal each to both the teams.
N Biren Singh and IAS officer L Nandakumar scored the goals for Chief Minister XI and Chief Secretary XI respectively.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the RK Jaichandra Singh Manipur Youth League 2020, the first of its kind in the entire North East India.
The opening match of the League was played between Classic Football Academy and HIYAI Football Academy.
Altogether 11 teams are participating in the League.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Y Khemchand, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, top civil and police officers and others were present during the function.
