Ahead of Class XI, XII exams Council appeals teachers to call off protest

The Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) has appealed to the protesting teachers to revoke their decision to not take part in the Class XI and Class XII examinations this year in the interest of the students.
Speaking to media persons at Babupara today, COHSEM Chairman Dr L Mahendra appealed to the teachers to relax their stand taking the welfare of the students into consideration.
He also appealed to the State Government to bring an amicable solution at the earliest.

It may be mentioned that the Council of Teachers' Association, All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association, All Manipur Government Lecturers' Welfare Association and All Manipur Secondary School Teachers' Association have been launching protests demanding implementation of 7th Pay for the teachers.
The Chairman then informed that the HSE Examination 2020, will be conducted from February 14 to March 23 and the Class XI examination will be held from February 17 to March 26 .
A total of 29144 students will appear the HSE, with 20,369 students (10,490 male and 9879 females) in the Science stream, 8065 students (4025 male and 4040 females) in the Arts stream and a total of 710 students (403 male and 307 females), will appear in the Commerce stream.
On the other hand, a total of 30,337 students will appear the Class XI examination, with 20,785 students (10,460 males and 10,325 females) appearing in the Science stream, 8851 students (4371 males and 4480 females) appearing the Arts stream and 701 students (382 males and 319 females) will appear in the Commerce stream, he explained.
He continued that examination will be held at a total of 101 exam centres across 14 districts of the State and wished the students on their exam.
Mahendra further conveyed that Education Minister Th Radheshyam has made all necessary preparations with the district administrations concerned and the law enforcing agencies to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of examination.
Education Commissioner T Ranjit and Education (S) Director Th Kirankumar are also closely monitoring the examination processes, he added, appealing the SO, OC, invigilators and student organisations to abide by the rules and regulations during the examination as well.
