Nemcha releases booklet 'NCDC in Manipur'

A booklet of National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) titled, "NCDC in Manipur" was released by Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen today in the presence of Managing Director NCDC Sundeep Kumar Nayak, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur, Robert Kshetrimayum and other officials ofNCDC.
The booket was released during a meeting held at NCDC office, New Delhi.
The Minister stated that various schemes and programmes were discussed during the meeting.
She expressed that, through various programmes of NCDC, Manipur will surely develop in terms of livelihood and enhancing the State's economy as effective cooperative movement will boost the economy of the State.
As highlighted by the Cooperation Minister, during the meeting, the first instalment for Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI) Project will be released within this financial year 2019-20 while the Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) will soon be a reality in all the districts of the State.
Manipur Piggery Mission will be taken up for the whole State.
It will include setting up of Meat Processing Unit, Feed storage & Development, Farms, Feed Analytical Laboratory, Slaughter house, etc.
Nemcha further asserted that an MoU will be signed between NCDC and Government of Manipur within this financial year 2019-20, which will bring a huge development in the cooperative movement of Manipur by providing assistance to Piggery, Fishery, Handloom & Handicraft, Sericulture, Multipurpose Cooperatives, etc.
The MoI (Memorandum of Intent), which was signed between Government of Manipur and Government of Bangladesh during the IICTF, 2019 will be promoted through Export Promotion Council, for strengthening the cooperative sector, Nemcha added.
She also informed that registration of 10 Farmer Producers' Organisations (FPO) will be done, comprising of 250 farmers each for the initial stage while bigger emphasis will be given to the Cooperative Societies engaged in Tourism activities in Manipur.
She called upon all to join hands to strengthen the cooperative sectors for a developed State and country.
