Imphal, April 05 2019:
Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar has asserted that only National People's Party (NPP) can protect Manipur and NPP has the capability to bring positive changes in the State.
Speaking at an election rally held at Kakching Khunou within Sugnu AC today, Y Joykumar remarked that the Naga People's Front (NPF) is a well organised party and their candidate is a qualified one.
But electors need to ponder on whether the NPF candidate should be elected or not by analysing NPF's ideology.
Casting votes in favour of NPF would seriously undermine the sacrifice of June 18, 2001 and the people's collective voice to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur under any circumstances, he said.
Electing the NPF candidate would send the message to New Delhi that NSCN-IM has a big say in the affairs of Manipur, Joykumar said.

Turning to Congress, the Deputy Chief Minister questioned how can people elect the Congress candidate who is a loan defaulter.
Not sparing coalition partner BJP, Joykumar warned that electing the BJP candidate would be akin to giving consent to the contentious CAB 2016.He reminded BJP president Amit Shah's open declaration that CAB 2016 would be brought back if BJP is re-elected to power and also BJP general secretary Ram Madhav's claim that the Bill would not affect the North East region in any manner.
Kuki militant groups under SoO pact even sent a letter to Amit Shah in favour of the BJP candidate, he said.
On the other hand, it was Conrad Sangma who first raised the banner of opposition against CAB.
Conrad made it clear that NPP would pull out from NDA is CAB is passed forcibly, Joykumar continued.
He asserted that all the four NPP Ministers in the State's coalition Government would stand by the party's position on CAB 2016 .
In the meantime, the KNA asked the NPP candidate to pull out from the Lok Sabha election in the Outer, he said.
He appealed to all the electors of the eight Assembly segments of the valley which are included in Outer Manipur PC to support NPP instead of remaining silent over continued denial of right to contest the Lok Sabha election.
Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip and NPP candidate Thangminlien Kipgen too addressed the rally.
Y Joykumar and Thangminlien also interacted with chiefs of villages located along Thangjing hill range and its foot at Moirang.
