CPI to hoist flag for Dr Nara on April 7; appeals for relaxation of general strike

Communist Party of India (CPI) has appealed all groups concerned, who have called general strike on April 7, to relax the party workers, delegates and well wishers who will be attending the flag hoisting ceremony of its candidate Dr M Nara from the purview of the strike.
The ceremony was fixed for April 7 nearly half a month back after consulting local priests as per the tradition of Meitei/Meetei, said the party.
The flag hoisting ceremony will begin at the residence of the candidate at Singjamei Thounaojam Leikai from 9.30 am, said the party urging the groups concerned not to restrict the movement of its leaders, who will be coming to attend the ceremony.
The election for the Inner Parliamentary seat will be held on April 18 .
11 candidates including Dr Nara are contesting for the seat.
