Tengnoupal, January 29 2020:
Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(South) conducted a National Integration Tour of North East to Pune and Mumbai from Jan 14 to 26 .
The team comprised of 24 students and two teachers from different parts of North Eastern States.
The tour was flagged off by Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Assam Governor.
The tour was undertaken to enable the local youths of NE States to see the amalgamation of the varied and rich culture of India and develop a feeling of unity and provide the students with an opportunity to witness the development and prosperity of a resurgent India.
Students were also imparted awareness about drug abuse and to keep themselves away from involvement in non- state and anti-national activities.
During the tour, the students interacted with Governor of Assam and other prominent personalities of military and civil organizations.
The students also visited various military and civil establishments, including NDA Khadakwasla, CME Pune, Bombay Engineering Group, AIPTC, DRDO R&D (Engrs), Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Raj Bhawan Mumbai, Naval Dockyard, Gateway of India, Rani Baug, Humboldt Penguin etc.
On behalf of DGAR, the tour was flagged in by OC Transit Camp Guwahati.
The students, their parents, teachers, village heads and CSOs from all across North East expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for organising the tour.
