MPDA condemns Govt's failure to give space for street vendors

Manipur People's Democratic Alliance (MPDA) has condemned the State Government for not providing an appropriate location for street vendors to conduct their business.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur press Club today, Manipur People's Democratic Alliance convenor Dr Th Inaocha said that Khwairamband Keithel the street vendors are coming out in the street as a source of livelihood, so that they can manage their family.
Inaocha alleged that the people are conducting business in the streets because of the inaction of the State Government to transform the welfare initiatives of the public into action.
The State Government is granting parking space at both side of the roads or at inappropriate spaces while denying street vendors a chance to earn their source of livelihood, he said while adding that such partiality is highly condemnable and unfortunate on the part of the authority.
He questioned why the State Government has failed to provide a space for the street vendors at the area where vehicles are being currently parked in Paona bazar and Thangal bazar.
As for the parking system, he maintained that the State Government could create a separate location above the Nambul river.
