Kapaam Day celebrated

Chandel, January 29 2020:
Celebrating 72nd year of settlement in the village, locals of Kapaam (Komlathabi) Village observed Kapaam Day-2020 under the theme "For God and the Village" at its public ground, under Chandel District, today.
The celebration began with the hoisting of village flag by a former chief of Kapaam Village Authority, Morang Ngoruw.
Tribal Affairs & Hills Minister N Kayisii; 42 Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency MLA, D Korungthang; ex-MLA W Morung Makunga and Kapaam Village Authority chief, Jindashing Roel attended the observance as the presidium members.
At the event, N Kayisii said that Kapaam (Komlathabi) Village which used to produce fine students and personalities seems to be slowing its progress down as compared to the past.
Urging all youngsters of the village to work hard to become a responsible citizen and contribute in the development of the State and a country as a whole, the Minister assured to extend all possible help for the cause.
As part of the observance, the gathering paid tributes to the deceased locals of the village by observing two-minute silence, while the people of neighbouring villages such as Moyong, Tarao, Maring, Khukthar Village showcased cultural items.
Chandel SP, N Modhunimai, village chiefs, Church and CSOs leaders also attended the programme.
