United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) Manipur State Committee has pledged support to the all India strike called by banking unions in three phases, starting from the two days strike from January 31 to February 1, the three days strike covering March 11, 12 and 13 and the indefinite strike from April 1.Speaking to media persons at SBI office, MG Avenue today, the committee chairman S Bijoy explained that UFBU, which is formed by numerous federations and unions of public sector bank employees, including AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF, INBOC, NOBW and NOBO, called the strike against the rigidity of the fair wage revision settlement.
He continued that the UFBU is putting forward a charter of demands which include wage revision settlement of 20 percent hike on pay slip component with adequate loading, 5 day banking, merger of special allowance with basic pay, scrapping of New Pension Scheme (NPS), updating of pension, improvement in family pension, allocation of staff welfare fund based on operating profits, exemption from income tax on retirement benefits without ceiling, uniform definition of business hours, lunch hours etc in branches, introduction of leave bank, defined working hours for officers and equal wage for equal work for contract employees/ business/corres- pondent.
He also appealed the public and all those concerned to conduct their banking transactions before the scheduled dates of the strike so as to prevent any inconveniences.
