Health Minister stresses on need for cohesive efforts for successful campaign on Hepatitis

Health & IPR Minister, Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has underscored the importance of raising awareness about Hepatitis disease.
He made the above statement while speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of the observance of World Hepatitis Day held at the auditorium of JNIMS today.
'Bringing Hepatitis care closer to you', is die theme of this year's observation.
The Minister also maintained that the majority of the people do not have adequate knowledge of the disease and stressed on the need of cohesive effort for carrying out a successful campaign on Hepatitis.
All the sections under the Medical Department need to join hands and work with dedication for bringing a change in the overall health care sector, he added.
With regards to the War on Drugs campaign, the Minister said that the campaign will definitely help to bring a solution to the menace of drug abuse in the State.
Speaking at the occasion as a resource person.
Medical Superintendent, JNIMS, Dr Kh Lokeshwor informed that Hepatitis can be transmitted through contaminated blood, mother to new bom child, sharing of infected needles, unsafe sex etc.
He further stated that Hepatitis B vaccine is available under UIP.
For treatment of Hepatitis A&E supportive care and Symptomatic management system may be taken.
For B & C, there is treatment available at free of cost at RIMS, JNIMS and in all the designated health facilities in the 16 districts, he added.
Director of Health Services Manipur, Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang; PD MSACS, H Roshita Devi, IAS; Director JNIMS, Dr L Deben Singh also graced the occasion as presidium members.
A rally was also flagged off as a part of the observation.
