Woman among 5 PLA cadres arrested

A combined team of Thoubal District Police, 16 Assam Rifles and Field G Team BSF Koirengei arrested five cadres including a woman of the proscribed People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Tuesday.
The arrested cadres have been identified as Keidongbam Subol alias Khomei (43) s/o (L) Keidongbam Biradhon of Wangbal Mayai Leikai; Paonam Manikanta Singh alias Amuyaima (32) s/o P Arun Singh of Jirighat Lakhinagar, presently residing at Tentha Tuwaband Leikai; Thambalmani (46) w/o Md Tomba of Yairipok Singa Ethei Mapal; Sougaijam Ronan (32) s/o Sougaijam Sanayaima of Kakching Wairi Kamala Pareng and Naorem Britain (27) s/o Naorem Rajendro of Kakching Khunyai Leikai.
According to a police report, on receiving a reliable input from 16 AR that some weapons have been transported from Moreh to a person residing in Tentha area for disrupting the Independence Day celebration by planting bombs and attacking non-locals, a combined team of Thoubal District Police and 16 AR conducted a search operation in Tentha Tuwaband Leikai area at around 8.15 am on Tuesday.
During the operation, the team arrested Subol, Manikanta and Thambalmani and seized 4 hand grenades from their possession.
After questioning the trip, the combined team of Thoubal District Police, 16 AR and Field G Team BSF Koirengei conducted another search operation and arrested Ronan and Britain.
On questioning, the cadres revealed that they were acting under the instructions of the outfit's self-styled Lt Colonel Rishikanta alias Ranbir, and targeting non-local people in all the valley districts.
They further revealed that they, along with other PLA cadres arrested on August 12, were involved in the IED blasts at Durga Mandir, Telipati and at Khongjom Sapam on May 13 and 30 respectively.
All the arrested cadres and the seized items have been handed over to Khongjom PS for further investigation, the report informed.
