Imphal, August 16 2022:
The High Court of Manipur closed a PIL petition seeking direction for forwarding the copy of an FIR registered under Section 157 of CrPC to the Magistrate concerned.
The petition had been filed by a lawyer, requesting the court to direct the authority concerned to forward the FIR copy.
In response, Manipur Police IGP (administration) IK Muivah submitted an affidavit on July 13 informing the court of the details of uploading the FIRs registered by police stations.
However, Kangpokpi district faced a technical issue, which led to a delay in uploading the FIR, while other police stations did so in time.
Government advocate RK Umakanta submitted to the court that the technical issue in Kangpokpi District has been solved and FIRs are being forwarded via email for further action.
Cases relating to sexual offences, insurgency, POCSO and other sensitive cases are not uploaded as per the guidelines.
Nonetheless, the FIRs are being uploaded on time as per the Supreme Court's direction.
Meanwhile, the petitioner's counsel S Rakesh submitted to the court that the inconveniences of the petitioner have been resolved successfully.
As such, after listening to the submissions, the division bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice MV Muralidhar closed the PIL.
